I think of your only one of four manapua shops in the Honolulu area, your food and service better be top notch and they are both great

My go to for manapua and I frequently order fresh noodles when making noodles dishes... sooo much cheaper than anywhere else.

We absolutely love Chun Wah Kam. The food is always great and the service has always been excellent, until today. Our server had a poor attitude, unfriendly, and when we called her to add on to our order, she rolled her eyes and kept walking the other way. I won't change my opinion on Chun Wah Kam just because of this one visit, but I do think she was horrible and probably not the best first impression for those who are trying this restaurant for the first time.

Okay, I haven't been to a Chun Wah Kam location in years. Went to Pearl City, Ewa, kalihi locations, and decided it wasn't my cup of tea. Met up in the Ala Moana location, really not expecting much based on my visit from the others. The plates were small, so add to my disappointment. Boom! They packed the plate so full! This buffet boy had to save for the next meal. So much was packed in that little plate. They didn't have any half moons. I wanted that. It was a good thing because I wouldn't be able to enjoy it. I was so stuffed. It was close to $15 per plate. But I got my money's worth. Next time, gotta plan to share. It might be even be too much for two. This location has a dining area that's has AC. Big plus. No flies. Sorry to Ding one star because the restroom sink had ring around it, and the server got annoyed when we asked about the different entrée. And they had a large selection of stuff. Just no half moon.

You can't go wrong with tasty local Chinese food for a potluck and Chun Wah Kam is a quick and easy go-to for that. I usually get a pan of their Hong Kong style noodles or ginger fried rice. I like how the pan is piled high--good value for the price. Everyone is usually happy with the food. I have been reading reviews and it sounds like everyone loves their fried udon as well--I need to try that next time!

Worth checking out as it's great value--tons of food for the price, served with a smile. I placed my order about 30 minutes before they closed for the day. I was eating a late lunch and was starving. I just wanted carby, salty, comfort food - Chun Wah Kam delivered. I got the plate lunch w 2 starches, 2 entrees and also ordered a manapua and a crispy kau gee to give both of those a try. That order ended up being way more than a lunch for me. I had food for 3.5 meals! For starches, I got the Hong Kong chow mein and the ginger chicken fried rice. I preferred the chow mein - chewy noodles(!) and good flavor. I was a little disappointed in the fried rice - it tasted a little too salty and the rice was a little softer than I like it. I like rice in fried rice to be firmer/a little drier (made from day old rice). For entrees, I had the pork eggplant and the sesame chicken. Both had really great flavor! I wished the chicken was a little crisper--like if they added the sauce before they plated it instead of it sitting in the sauce, but having it sitting in the sauce isn't unusual, so I'm not really complaining. The manapua had a fantastic fluffy texture and a good amount of filling. And, it was the size of my entire face lol. Unfortunately, the crispy kau gee was cold and not crispy at all. This may have been due to it being the end of the day and/or being take out. I wished I had heated it up in my air fryer before eating it. Given so many say it's a must order, I was disappointed. Some people have mentioned poor service - this was not my experience. The woman who took care of my order was very friendly!

Love this place. Manapua is life! Pick between baked or steamed. They even have cute mini manapuas. Hurry and get a box or two

Another must grab while I'm visiting home, the steamed Steamed Manapua and fruit punch. The fruit punch in Hawaii is just different, you'll have to try for yourself to know. I like to grab a dozen maybe more and bring the manapua back home to munch on, they're that addicting ! I didn't get pictures of the fried noodles and other plates we got , but the portions are huge. They're always busy at every location you go to , some even sell out of manapuas.

Pre ordered food for the holidays...mini manapuas that were red and green, chow fun and crispy gau gee. Thank goodness we pre ordered they were out of mini manapua and not taking orders the week before christmas. We got super lucky with our order the person we spoke to on the phone was at the counter and remembered me calling and went overboard to make sure we got our mini manapuas. He said normally you can walk in and they have plenty, unfortunately he said something happened to the batter and they had to stop taking orders. This is exceptional customer service to make a customer order happen. Its a good thing they have the set up with lines and signage, this place can be a hot mess when busy. We were very happy campers when we picked up our order. NOTE: They charge for extra hot mustard and only give one container per 4 or 6 crispy gau gee. Remember to order early for holidays.
